Julia Steenstra

Julia Steenstra (she/her) is a director, producer, designer, and actor and has been a part of Doghouse Ensemble Theatre since its inception. She has been a co-producer on Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead and Elegies: A Song Cycle, along with the 2016 Studio Cast Recording. She was also an actor in both performances of Mass Cycle: A Meditation on Cancer. Her other credits include: Assistant Director of Elephant Grief at Northern Illinois University, Romeo’s Page/Montague Fighter/Capulet Dancer/Co-Choreographer of Romeo and Juliet at the Interlochen Shakespeare Festival, Assistant Lighting Designer of RENT at Interlochen Arts Academy, Grusha Vashnadze in The Caucasian Chalk Circle, and the director and light designer for The Cowboy. She graduated from Interlochen Arts Academy in 2016 with Fine Arts Awards for Excellence in Theatre and for English. In her time at Interlochen, she also won the Upstart Crow Award (2014) and the Jim Harvey Leadership Award (2016). She is currently pursuing her BFA in Acting at Northern Illinois University.
